Product Information

Giant Propel Advanced 2 2014

It never ceases to amaze just how much "bang for your buck" can be found with a lot of the bikes available these days. Bikes that are simply great value for money and bikes that do their job extremely well.

Take this 2014 Giant Propel Advanced 2 for instance.

It is a pretty serious racing bike and yet it is priced just a smidge over 4 grand. This is amazing when you hear some of the horror stories of what people have paid for a bike and then you check the bike out and ask "why?".

The Propel Advanced frame is just a tiny step down from the top of the range Propel Advanced SL, being just a few grams heavier and with a standard style adjustable seat post as opposed to the integrated seat mast of the SL frame.  Neither of these will have a significant bearing on the ride quality or speed of the bike and the other features of stiffness, aerodynamics and the integrated brakes remain to help make this a very quick bike.

Aerodynamics is further assisted by the very obvious deep dish carbon fibre wheels. Produced by Giant, the P-SLR1 wheels weigh a mere 1690grams for the pair and feature 50mm carbon rims with a scandium braking area for positive stopping and guaranteed long life durability.

The convenience of the adjustable seat post will actually be of benefit to many riders as adjustability over a greater range is far easier to manage. Still aero shaped to assist in the quest for speed, the post is cleverly designed with the option to select one of two saddle offset positions allowing all riders to be correctly positioned.

With really nice quality handlebars, headtem and saddle, the bike is finished off with the new Shimano Ultegra 11 speed ensemble. This is the mechanical version, whereas the Propel Advanced 1 has the electronic Di2 version. Both work exceptionally well and both share the same gear ratios, the difference being a lower purchase cost for the Advanced 2.
